Groups Revealed for Worlds 2021

League of Legends released the groups for the 2021 LOL Worlds Championship. Four gruops listed A, B, C, D, each with three predetermined esports clubs and one to be determined after a play-in. The twelve predetermined teams are:

Group A: DK, FPX, Rogue

Group B: EDG, 100 Thieves, T1

Group C: PSG, Fnatic, RNG

Group D: MAD, GENG, Team Liquid

Worlds 2021 announce china

League of Legends World Championship Moved to Iceland

The 2021 League of Legends World Championship was scheduled to take place in China again this year, but was forced to relocate due to the COVID pandemic, again. This year the LOL World Championship had to move and will be held in Iceland.

“After considering all potential options, we concluded that moving Worlds to Europe provided the best opportunity for the most teams, and their best players, to compete.” – John Needham.

The team at RIOT Games had expected 2021 to be easier to navigate than 2020, but it turned out to be the opposite.

League has become more than just a game. After 10 years in the hearts and minds of its global player base, its become a community. Every community bears the fruits of its organization. Industry and art both have emerged. Even music has evolved from the game, and not just the sound tracks of the game.

Riot Games has helped produce numerous songs and music videos to help inspire and communicate to it’s player base. It really took hold with the release of “Get Jinxed” in October of 2013.  It’s transformed to an entire group of holographic pop stars featuring the game’s characters. That’s not all, those holographs perform live next to real life pop stars during the League esports events.
