100 Thieves COD Black Ops 4 HISTORY (2019)

The 100 Thieves participated in competitive Call of Duty after a two year hiatus. This was also the first year Call of Duty esports demanded a 5 person starting roster. They started their return with the signing of Fero and Kenny on August 28th, 2018. Then, they signed Octane on August 31, 2018. Lastly, they signed SlasheR and Enable on September 26th, 2018.

By signing five of the top players from the Call of Duty: World War 2 season, 100 Thieves was one of the favorites going into the 2019 Call of Duty World League Las Vegas Open tournament. They started off winning 2 matches in pool play. Then, they lost to eUnited and Team Sween which put them in third place and they dropped to the losers bracket. They defeated G2 Esports in the 3rd round of the Losers Bracket before getting eliminated by Luminosity Gaming in the 4th Round of the Losers Bracket to finish in the Top 12. It was a poor placing but it qualified them for the important Call of Duty World League Pro League Qualifier.

At the qualifier, 100 Thieves started off with 1 win and 2 losses and were down 0 maps to 2 to Mazer Gaming in their fourth match. A loss at this point would mean elimination and disqualification. The team reverse swept Mazer, and then won their final two matches and finished in the top 2 in pool play which qualified them for the CWL Pro League.

After the qualifier Fero was replaced in the starting lineup by Priestahh. Priestahh was in on loan from the FaZe Clan, along with 100 Thieves new Head Coach Crowder.

100 Thieves won 5 matches and lost 2 in their first split and went into the 2019 Call of Duty World League Fort Worth event with renewed spirits. They landed in Pool “B” and won two of their three matches. They were sent to the losers bracket after head to head tiebreakers. They defeated eUnited, Denial Esports, and Team Heretics before facing off against Enigma6 Group in Losers Round 4. After winning the 1st map and winning 5 rounds to 1 in Search and Destroy, Priestahh got sick on stage and had to be replaced by Fero for the remainder of the series and tournament. They won the series 3 maps to 1 before falling to Team Reciprocity in the next round.

The full team returned for the first cross division split of the league. They went were 3 wins and 1 loss in, only losing to Midnight Esports on the 5th map.

Next, the team competed at the 2019 Call of Duty London event. 100 Thieves beat Team Reciprocity and Enigma6 Group before losing to OpTic Gaming. After storming through the winners bracket, the two teams faced off again in the Winners Final. 100 Thieves had played on maps that were not their best in Pool Play versus OpTic. This confusion allowed 100 Thieves to get their best maps in the bracket stage, and this led to OpTic being sent to the losers bracket after winning 3 maps to 1. EUnited challenged the team from the losers bracket, but 100 Thieves won 3 maps to 2 and took home the first ever Championship for the organization in any esport. Octane was named the 2019 Call of Duty World League London MVP.
