Team Kaliber History

Team Kaliber was founded in 2013 for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 season, backed by several YouTuber creators, led by Chaos. The team set out to build a team ethic of loyalty, teamwork, and dedication. Instead of attempting to recruit the roster of an already established team, Team Kaliber built their own bringing together players they felt would be dedicated to those values the team believed in. With that in mind, the first roster was announced as – Sharp, Goonjar, Neslo, and Theory.

call of duty: Black Ops II

The team made their debut at UMG Atlanta 2013 and placed 2nd losing to compLexity Gaming.

At the 2019 MLG PAX Prime Invitational tournament the team took 3rd place.

Team Kaliber went to London for Gfinity 2 and took 3rd place.

At the 2013 UMG Dallas tournament Team Kaliber finished in 4th place.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

With the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts Team Kaliber did not make any roster changes.

The team took 2nd place at the 2013 MLG Fall Championship losing to compLexity Gaming.

Following the MLG Fall Championship, Goonjar left the team. This was the first time Team Kaliber had a roster change and took the opportunity to recruit Clayster who was fresh into Free Agency after leaving compLexity Gaming.

Team Kaliber took 2nd place at the 2014 UMG Philadelphia event losing again to compLexity Gaming.

Following UMG Philadelphia, Clayster left for OpTic Gaming. A few days later the team announced they had recruited FormaL to fill the spot.

On January 23, 2014 Neslo was released from Team Kaliber and replaced by former founding member Goonjar.

Team Kaliber finished 3rd at the 2014 US Regional Finals and qualified for the 2014 Call of Duty Championship tournament.

At the 2014 Call of Duty Championship Team Kaliber finished pool play undefeated winning 3 matches. They faced OpTic Gaming in the first round of the Championship bracket. Team Kaliber lost to Optic in the first 3 matches and fell to the Loser’s Bracket. Team Kaliber finished in the top 16 losing to Team Envy after 5 matches (2-3).

After the 2014 Call of Duty Championship, FormaL and Theory left Team Kaliber. Team Kaliber picked up Apathy and Neslo.

Apathy was unable to attend UGC Niagara due to a vacation, so the team recruited Madcat as a substitute for the event. The team performed well given the roster circumstance, finishing in 7th-8th place.

Team Kaliber began the MLG X Games Invitational event well by defeating OpTic Nation 3 maps to 2, and Evil Geniuses 3 maps to 1 in group play, guaranteeing a Top 4 finish. In round 1 of the medal bracket, Team Kaliber carried their momentum through, defeating Tea, Envy 3 maps to 1, and advanced to face OpTic Gaming in the Grand Finals. They won the first domination map in the series, but lost the next two maps. They won the second domination map, tying the series at 2 maps to 2. In the thrilling final game of Search and Destroy on the map Sovereign, OpTic won the  6 rounds to 4, and Team Kaliber became the first Call of Duty X Games silver medalists.

Team Kaliber qualified for the Championship Bracket at MLG Anaheim. They entered the tournament with the lowest seed (11th), and faced Epsilon in the first round. They defeated Epsilon after several close games, and advanced to face Team Envy in winner’s round 2. They lost to EnVy 3 maps to 0, and dropped into the loser’s bracket. There, they lost to TCM 3 maps to 1 and were eliminated  from the tournament.

After Anaheim, Apathy was replaced by Theory.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Team Kaliber signed Loony to replace Neslo at the start of the Advanced Warfare (AW) season.

Team Kaliber took 4th place at the 2014 MLG Columbus event.

Team Kaliber took 1st place at the 2015 UGC Niagara tournament.

Team Kaliber took 2nd place at the 2015 MES Detroit 20K event.

call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Team Kaliber began the Black Ops 3 season with the same roster as they had when they started the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 season, Sharp, Goonjar, Theory, and Neslo.

They made it to the semi-finals the Totino’s Invitational only to come up short against Rise Nation, losing 1 map to 2 and placed 4th in the tournament.

Team Kaliber qualified for Stage One of the Call of Duty World League at the Qualifying Invitational Tournament. Reaching the finals against Team EnVy to lose 0-3, and move to the loser bracket, where they defeated CounterLogic Gaming 3 maps to 1 to qualify.

Team Kaliber then attended UMG South Carolina, where they placed 9th-16th.

Team Kaliber placed 10th in the 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Regular Season, with an 8 win and 14 loss record, putting them into relegation.

Goonjar could not attend the relegation tournament due to visa issues, so Team Kaliber had to get a substitute player. Stage 1 players could not be used as a sub so Team Kaliber recruited  MBoZe out of retirement. They played a best of 7 against KingPapey, but lost 2 maps to 4 and did not qualify for Stage 2 of the Call of Duty World League.

Sharp then entered retirement, Neslo joined Echo Fox, and Goonjar left to join compLexity. Theory became the captain and picked up amateur players Xotic, Holler, CaLiFa.

This roster placed 29th-36th at MLG Anaheim and Team Kaliber released the three amateur players to recruit Happy, ColeChan, and Goonjar.

The team attended MLG Orlando and was placed in a pool with OpTic Gaming, Luminosity and Kingsmen. Team Kaliber placed 3rd in their pool with a record of 1 win and 2 losses and dropped into the losers bracket. They beat Pnda Gaming 3 maps to 1, but then lost to Team EnVy in 3 maps, finishing 9th-12th.

This roster then placed 9th-12th at the 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship, a respectable finish given the short period of time the players had been together.

Call of DutY: Infinite Warfare

Team Kaliber began the Infinite Warfare (IW) with the same team that had finished Black Ops 3.

They began unsuccessfully, with a disappointing 13-16th finish at the 2017 CWL Las Vegas Open.

After some decent performances in the online MLG GameBattles 2K tournaments, the team hoped to improve on their Vegas result at the Atlanta Open.

However, the team finished worse than before in 17-20th, along with consecutive 21-24th placings at 2017 CWL Paris Open and 2017 CWL Dallas Open.

Team Kaliber swapped ColeChan for Accuracy, a change that would bring them only slightly more success, securing 9-12th at CWL Anaheim after a respectable loser’s bracket run coming out of the open bracket.

After qualifying for the 2017 Call of Duty World League Championship through the NA Last Chance Qualifier, Team Kaliber went 0-3 in Pool Play, finishing off the year with a 25th-32nd placing.

Call of Duty: World War 2

After the Call of Duty Infinite Warfare season, Happy and Goonjar left Team Kaliber.

They recruited Chino and the young prodigy, Kenny.

This roster placed in the top 4 in every online 2k tournament prior to the 2018 Call of Duty World League Dallas event.

Team Kaliber took 1st place at the Call of Duty World League Dallas tournament without dropping a single series, including beating the favored OpTic Gaming 3 maps to 0 to win the tournament.

Going into the 2018 New Orleans Open, Team Kaliber was one of the favorites to win.

They were able to continue they’re success in the tournament and took another 1st place in the tournament with their only series loss being the first best of 5 of the grand finals.

Team Kaliber is one of very few teams to have ever won two Major Opens in a row.
